Episode 96: The Return of Optimus Prime Part 1 with Jon and Nick from Stranger Still

96 Optimus Returns

It’s a big episode this week as… well, Optimus Prime Returns. I mean, it’s in the title. Listen to it here:

Download it here: Episode 96 The Return of Optimus Prime Part 1

As we get closer and closer to the end of the original Transformers cartoon, our All-Star Guests continue coming. This episode we are joined by the hosts of the excellent podcast Stranger Still, Jon Beigen and Nicholas Wood! Nick also does the Hanna-Barbera based cartoon review show Limited Cel with his dad, but you can find it at the same link. If you’re looking for specific episodes to start with, the PETA episode of Stranger Still and the Banana Splits Adventure Hour on Limited Cel were both good.

Jon’s Insane Moment was when a bunch of the Autobots got infected by the rage virus:

Nick chose the moment when they were juuuust about to melt Optimus Prime’s body down:

Adam enjoyed seeing Rodimus build a team and having all of them transform back to back (careful if you’re playing the drinking game during this sequence):

96 Transform and Roll Out

And Kevin loved it when Rodimus Prime transformed to jump over an infected Ultra Magnus, then transformed back and drove away:

All right, join us next time for the conclusion of The Return of Optimus Prime and another of our amazing guests!

Episode 93: Call of the Primitives

Oh boy this is a good one! You can listen to it here:

We have a lot of Still Shots for you this week, starting with a couple of new Decepticon cassettes named Slugfest and Overkill:

93 Slugfest and Overkill

Sky Lynx shows up looking all stretched out:

Then Unicron shows up with his whole face turned to rock:

And then the villain of the episode, Tornedron, shows up at the end and suddenly has a funky face:

That’s not to mention the Oracle, which looks like this:

Then, Hun-Grr does this amazing thing where he eats rocks and simultaneously spits them out:

93 Hunn-Grr's Rocks

Then we finally get to Adam’s Insane Moment in which Trypticon is defeated by Tornedron and falls on Grimlock:

93Trypticon Dies

And THEN Tornedron takes out the cassettes in a great sequence by becoming a tiger:

Whew! Join us in a couple of weeks for another episode!

Episode 83: Webworld

We’re back and almost on time! You can listen to the episode here:

Download it here: Episode 83 Webworld

First of all, RIP Len Wein. We’ll say more next episode.

Now, Kevin’s Most Insane Moment was when this weird centipede creature fell apart.

Adam’s Insane Moment involved Sky Lynx and Sludge messing with a Sweep:

Thanks for hanging in there and we’ll see you in 2 weeks!

Episode 81: Carnage in C Minor

First of all, we need to apologize for the audio in this episode. Kevin accidentally recorded on his laptop’s internal microphone, and it does not sound good. Hopefully you can hang in there and we’ll be back to normal next week.

Listen to it here:

The art in this episode was definitely weird, as evidenced by this shot:

And Devastator played a big role in both Insane Moments. First, Adam enjoyed seeing Broadside crush him:

And then Kevin enjoyed seeing Perceptor blast him to pieces:

We promise we’ll pay attention next time and get the audio right again! See you in two weeks!

Episode 66: Transformers The Movie Part 1 of 2

We’re finally back!

The long hiatus is over and we’re back with the much-anticipated animated movie. This week we’re doing our audio commentary track for the first half of the film, along with an intro and outro (including our weekly segments). You can listen to it here:

Download it here: Episode 66 Transformers The Movie 1 of 2

We had a blast recording this episode, and you can probably tell by how long the gifs are this week. Adam’s Insane Moment was the battle between Soundwave and Blaster’s minions, with a dash of Perceptor for good measure:

66-casette-fight

Kevin’s Insane Moment was the Dinobots going all out against Devastator (how crazy is it that Adam passed on the Dinobots moment!):

Join us next week for Part 2, and then we’ll release just the full commentary the week after. And if you haven’t already, subscribe to the show!

Japan Special: Scramble City with the Hosts of Transmissions

It’s a very special episode this week as we review Scramble City, the Japanese episode intended to bridge Season 2 and the animated movie. On the show this week we are excited to be joined by three of the four hosts of the Transmissions Podcast , Darryl, Charles, and Jeremy. Our conversation over Skype might not be the best audio quality we’ve ever had, but the content should make up for it since these guys know WAY more about the Transformers than we do!

Listen to it here:

Download it here: Episode 65.1 Scramble City

Since the episode is in Japanese, don’t expect audio clips for the dialogue this week, but get ready for five whole insane moments!

First, Darryl really enjoyed when Metroplex blasted the Decepticon Combiners with a huge shot from his gun:

65-1 Metroplex Fires

Then Charles wanted us to get into the surprise appearance of Trypticon at the end of the episode:

65-1 Trypticon Appears

Then Jeremy pointed out that Wild Rider (the Decepticon Combaticon) joining Superion as his leg was pretty nuts:

65-1 Wild Rider Slips In

Adam just wanted to have a gif of the big Superion transformation sequence:

65-1 Form Superion

And finally Kevin loved the bit where Scramble Power was on full display:

65-1 Scramble Power

Thanks again to the Transmissions guys! Be sure to check out their podcast, and we hope to be back in two weeks with the first half of our audio commentary for the animated movie!

Episode 65: B.O.T.

Is this the worst episode yet? Maybe! A robot is created and then nonsense happens. Listen to it here:

Download it here: Episode 65 B.O.T.

Adam’s Most Insane Moment was when there was a simulation of Decepticons shooting the moon out of orbit:

65 Orbit Disruptor

And Kevin’s Insane Moment was when a few Deccepticons got shot into the air:

65 Orbit Disruptor Goes Nuts

Join us next week for a very special episode of Scramble City featuring the hosts of Transmissions!
