Episode 96: The Return of Optimus Prime Part 1 with Jon and Nick from Stranger Still

96 Optimus Returns

It’s a big episode this week as… well, Optimus Prime Returns. I mean, it’s in the title. Listen to it here:

Download it here: Episode 96 The Return of Optimus Prime Part 1

As we get closer and closer to the end of the original Transformers cartoon, our All-Star Guests continue coming. This episode we are joined by the hosts of the excellent podcast Stranger Still, Jon Beigen and Nicholas Wood! Nick also does the Hanna-Barbera based cartoon review show Limited Cel with his dad, but you can find it at the same link. If you’re looking for specific episodes to start with, the PETA episode of Stranger Still and the Banana Splits Adventure Hour on Limited Cel were both good.

Jon’s Insane Moment was when a bunch of the Autobots got infected by the rage virus:

96 Rage Virus in Auitobots

Nick chose the moment when they were juuuust about to melt Optimus Prime’s body down:

96 Optimus Prime Getting Melted

Adam enjoyed seeing Rodimus build a team and having all of them transform back to back (careful if you’re playing the drinking game during this sequence):

96 Transform and Roll Out

And Kevin loved it when Rodimus Prime transformed to jump over an infected Ultra Magnus, then transformed back and drove away:

All right, join us next time for the conclusion of The Return of Optimus Prime and another of our amazing guests!

Episode 66: Transformers The Movie Part 1 of 2

We’re finally back!

The long hiatus is over and we’re back with the much-anticipated animated movie. This week we’re doing our audio commentary track for the first half of the film, along with an intro and outro (including our weekly segments). You can listen to it here:

Download it here: Episode 66 Transformers The Movie 1 of 2

We had a blast recording this episode, and you can probably tell by how long the gifs are this week. Adam’s Insane Moment was the battle between Soundwave and Blaster’s minions, with a dash of Perceptor for good measure:

66-casette-fight

Kevin’s Insane Moment was the Dinobots going all out against Devastator (how crazy is it that Adam passed on the Dinobots moment!):

Join us next week for Part 2, and then we’ll release just the full commentary the week after. And if you haven’t already, subscribe to the show!

Japan Special: Scramble City with the Hosts of Transmissions

It’s a very special episode this week as we review Scramble City, the Japanese episode intended to bridge Season 2 and the animated movie. On the show this week we are excited to be joined by three of the four hosts of the Transmissions Podcast , Darryl, Charles, and Jeremy. Our conversation over Skype might not be the best audio quality we’ve ever had, but the content should make up for it since these guys know WAY more about the Transformers than we do!

Listen to it here:

Download it here: Episode 65.1 Scramble City

Since the episode is in Japanese, don’t expect audio clips for the dialogue this week, but get ready for five whole insane moments!

First, Darryl really enjoyed when Metroplex blasted the Decepticon Combiners with a huge shot from his gun:

65-1 Metroplex Fires

Then Charles wanted us to get into the surprise appearance of Trypticon at the end of the episode:

65-1 Trypticon Appears

Then Jeremy pointed out that Wild Rider (the Decepticon Combaticon) joining Superion as his leg was pretty nuts:

65-1 Wild Rider Slips In

Adam just wanted to have a gif of the big Superion transformation sequence:

65-1 Form Superion

And finally Kevin loved the bit where Scramble Power was on full display:

65-1 Scramble Power

Thanks again to the Transmissions guys! Be sure to check out their podcast, and we hope to be back in two weeks with the first half of our audio commentary for the animated movie!

Episode 65: B.O.T.

Is this the worst episode yet? Maybe! A robot is created and then nonsense happens. Listen to it here:

Download it here: Episode 65 B.O.T.

Adam’s Most Insane Moment was when there was a simulation of Decepticons shooting the moon out of orbit:

65 Orbit Disruptor

And Kevin’s Insane Moment was when a few Deccepticons got shot into the air:

65 Orbit Disruptor Goes Nuts

Join us next week for a very special episode of Scramble City featuring the hosts of Transmissions!

Episode 64: Aerial Assault

Aerialbots VS Combaticons! A plan to steal planes! A plan to… turn those planes into… cars. What? Yes, that’s what you’ll get this week. Listen to it here:

Download it here: Episode 64 Aerial Assault

Adam’s Insane Moment involved the amazing new Decepticon base taking off for flight. Oh, yeah, it’s a robotic griffin:

64 Griffin Fortress Takes Off

And Kevin’s Insane Moment was about that griffin’s mane capturing an Aerialbot like it was alive:

64 Slingshot Caught in Griffin Hair

Only one more episode in Season 2, so listen to the end of this week’s podcast to see what’s coming up!

Episode 63: The Revenge of Bruticus

Well, it’s all about Starscream this week as he tries his hand at yet another takeover. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t work. (Duh) You can listen to it here:

Download it here: Episode 63 The Revenge of Bruticus

After last week’s embarrassing lack of Insane Moments we think we killed it this week. First of all, we had a still shot of Shockwave RIDING ON STARSCREAM:

63 Shockwave Rides Starscream

Then Adam’s Insane Moment was when Bruticus fired Shockwave out into space:

63 Bruticus Shoots Shockwave Into Space

And then Kevin’s Insane Moment continued on from that when Shockwave crashed into Starscream and… grabbed his nose?

63 Shockwave Crashes Into Starscream

Next week we’ll be revealing some of our big plans for the weeks leading up to the movie so see you then!

Episode 62: Starscream’s Brigade

Starscream tries, once again, to take over as leader of the Decepticons with predictable results. On the other hand, say hello to the Combaticons!

You can listen to it here:

Download it here: Episode 62 Starscream’s Brigade

As for Insane Moments… Well, there aren’t any this week. While there was some wild stuff in the episode, none of it really rose to the level for either of us that the Insane Moments have been lately. So, rather than a gif of just whatever, we skipped them this week. Hopefully there will be something truly crazy next week. See you then!
