Wendy’s Insane Moment was a reference to The Warriors:

Adam’s Insane Moment was when the Matrix healed everyone and “The Touch” played:

And Kevin’s Insane Moment was when a crazy space spider tried to eat Goldbug (aka Bumblebee):

See you in a couple of weeks!

Episode 96: The Return of Optimus Prime Part 1 with Jon and Nick from Stranger Still

96 Optimus Returns

It’s a big episode this week as… well, Optimus Prime Returns. I mean, it’s in the title. Listen to it here:

As we get closer and closer to the end of the original Transformers cartoon, our All-Star Guests continue coming. This episode we are joined by the hosts of the excellent podcast Stranger Still, Jon Beigen and Nicholas Wood! Nick also does the Hanna-Barbera based cartoon review show Limited Cel with his dad, but you can find it at the same link. If you’re looking for specific episodes to start with, the PETA episode of Stranger Still and the Banana Splits Adventure Hour on Limited Cel were both good.

Jon’s Insane Moment was when a bunch of the Autobots got infected by the rage virus:

Nick chose the moment when they were juuuust about to melt Optimus Prime’s body down:

Adam enjoyed seeing Rodimus build a team and having all of them transform back to back (careful if you’re playing the drinking game during this sequence):

96 Transform and Roll Out

And Kevin loved it when Rodimus Prime transformed to jump over an infected Ultra Magnus, then transformed back and drove away:

All right, join us next time for the conclusion of The Return of Optimus Prime and another of our amazing guests!

Episode 95: Face of the Nijika with guest Dave Stone-Robb

95 Nijika

Say hello to the Nijika, a robot geisha/astronaut. It’s a pretty wild episode this time, and we are joined by the first of our All-Star guests who will be helping us countdown to the end of the original Transformers cartoon!

Listen to it here:

Our guest this episode is Dave Stone-Robb! He started the podcast network Ear Trumpet Audio with his wife, which features a lot of great shows including The Reelist where he’s counting down the AFI’s Top 100 American Movies. I’ve been a guest on there twice, and Adam has been on it as well!

Dave also has a pretty new podcast called By the Podcast of Grayskull where he and his co-host are watching every episode of the original He-Man cartoon in… chronological order. Hmmm, might have to have a word about that.

Anyhow, for his Insane Moment Dave chose the fact that the Nijika is not only smaller than we expected, but seems to get even smaller at times:

Kevin was very happy to get a good look at Rodimus Prime’s very own Sad Trailer!

Adam decided he needed two Insane Moments this time, so up first is Sky Lynx vomiting the Autobots out of his mouth:

And his second was when Perceptor’s stolen insignia was placed on the Nijika’s head and became her face… somehow:

Only five more episodes left!

Episode 82: Fight or Flee

Sorry for the absence, but Adam got MARRIED! YAY! And we’re back with a pretty good episode. Listen to it here:

Adam’s Most Insane Moment was a pretty great kick:

And Kevin’s Most Insane Moment came when the Decepticons blew some stuff up:

We promise we’ll actually get back on schedule now, so see you in two weeks!

Episode 78: Forever Is a Long Time Coming

It’s a pretty great episode this time, and written by a well-known comic book writer as well!

Listen to it here:

Kevin’s Insane Moment was this cool shot of the Aerialbots splitting up:

Adam’s Insane Moment was Ramhorn, one of the tapes living inside Blaster, absolutely destroying some Sharkticons:

We also address last week’s Gobotological at the end. See you in 2 weeks!

Episode 75: Dark Awakening

The cartoon takes us to some pretty dark places this week, and we happily follow those threads to their conclusions. You can listen to it here:

Both of our Most Insane Moments involved the Dinobots this week! Kevin’s was when Sludge saved Snarl’s life by pushing him out of the way:

Adam picked the moment when Grimlock became furious, but it kind of looked like he was just dancing:

We’re now officially three fourths of the way through the original show, so join us next time as we start the home stretch!

Episode 74: Chaos

The show bounces back after last episode’s lackluster showing with a story that centers on the Autobot Kup. You can listen here:

Download it here: Episode 74 Chaos

Any episode where Grimlock puts his arms on someone’s shoulders and shakes them is all right by me:

As for Insane Moments, Adam really enjoyed Kup dropping these keys and abandoning these prisoners:

Kevin’s Insane Moment was Predaking producing a lightsaber and slicing off this rock:

Next episode has a title that we are very interested in, so let’s hope it’s a great one! See you then!
